Just got back from the bridge opening (except for a layover stop at Belew's) and was thinking driving back, what a really amazing thing it has been to have gotten this done in 121 days. It just shows that when people in government really understand a real need they can work together in a nonpartisian way and manner that actually gets something done. It is a prime example of people in government understanding a problem, making a decision and then getting out of the way to let private enterprise get the job done in the most efficient and timely manner. For once, government did what it was supposed to do all the time, make the call and other than providing QC get out of the way.
I think County Clerk Ray may have hit on something yesterday - maybe we should give Hall Construction the state's six year road plan, especially the two new bridges and the four-lane road from Barkley Lake to Cadiz. They could probably get it done by July 4, 2013.
Hats off to all involved.
